Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Corflex brain training.

General

What is Corflex?

Corflex is a free, browser-based brain training platform featuring 20 cognitive games. Each game targets a different mental skill — sequential memory, spatial reasoning, reaction time, color perception, pitch matching, pattern recognition, and more. Play solo, compete on leaderboards, or challenge friends in multiplayer party rooms.

Is Corflex really free?

Yes, the core platform is completely free. All 20 games, daily challenges, weekly tournaments, party rooms, and leaderboards are accessible to everyone without an account or any payment. There is also an optional Premium subscription that unlocks Apex difficulty, the Apex Brain Score leaderboard, the ability to create Apex party rooms, and profile customization. Premium is optional — free players have full access to everything else.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Corflex runs entirely in your web browser. It works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices — any modern browser with JavaScript enabled will work. No app store, no installation, no plugins.

Do I need an account?

No. When you first visit Corflex, an anonymous player ID is generated and stored in your browser. You can play all games, appear on leaderboards, and track your progress without ever creating an account. Optionally, you can sign in with Google or Discord to sync your progress across multiple devices.

Premium

What is Corflex Premium and what does it include?

Premium is an optional subscription that unlocks five additional features:

  • Apex difficulty — a creative twist on every one of the 20 modes (reverse recall, hidden filters, selective attention, etc.)
  • Apex Brain Score leaderboard — a separate 0-1000 board for the most committed players
  • Apex party rooms — create rooms set to Apex difficulty and share with non-Premium friends, who get to play Apex too
  • Premium gold-star badge next to your initials on every leaderboard, profile, and party room
  • Profile customization — name color, bio, and profile background

Visit the Premium page for full details and pricing.

How much does Corflex Premium cost?

Premium is $2.00 USD per month, $20.00 USD per year (about $1.67/mo), or a one-time $30.00 USD Lifetime purchase that gives you permanent Premium access. Monthly and Annual renew automatically until you cancel; Lifetime is a single payment with no recurring charges. You can switch between Monthly and Annual anytime through the Customer Portal.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Go to the Premium page while signed in and click Manage Subscription. You'll be taken to a Stripe-hosted Customer Portal where you can cancel with one click. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Premium access until that date, and no further charges will be made. Your account, scores, and progress are preserved. (The Lifetime purchase is one-time, so there's nothing to cancel.)

Is Premium refundable?

All purchases are final and non-refundable except where required by law. Subscriptions are non-refundable for partial billing periods — if you cancel mid-cycle you keep access until the period ends with no pro-rated refund. Lifetime purchases are non-refundable except where a statutory right applies (e.g. certain EU/UK consumers). Goodwill requests for exceptional circumstances are considered case-by-case — contact support@corflex.gg.

What is Apex difficulty?

Apex is the third difficulty tier alongside Easy and Hard, available to Premium subscribers. Each of the 20 modes has a unique Apex twist — reverse recall, hidden filters, multi-target memory, selective attention, and more. Apex tests a deeper version of the same skill the mode is built around, not just a harder version of the same task.

Do my friends need Premium to play in my Apex party rooms?

No. As a Premium subscriber, you can create Apex-difficulty party rooms and share the link. Anyone who joins can play Apex within that specific room — no Premium required for them. Their scores save to the room's leaderboard but do not contribute to the Apex Brain Score (which stays Premium-only). It's a way to share the Apex experience with friends who haven't subscribed.

Gameplay

How does scoring work?

Every game consists of 5 rounds, each scored from 0 to 10, for a maximum total of 50. The scoring formula is different for each mode and tuned to its specific cognitive demand. For example, Rhythm scores timing precision in milliseconds, Chroma uses perceptual color distance (CIELAB Delta E), and Harmony measures pitch accuracy in semitones. The common thread is that higher accuracy always means a higher score.

What's the difference between Easy, Hard, and Apex?

Easy mode provides a comfortable starting point with fewer elements, longer display times, and simpler patterns. Hard mode increases the challenge with more items to remember, shorter windows, and tighter scoring thresholds. Apex (Premium subscribers only) is the third tier — each of the 20 modes has a unique creative twist that tests a deeper version of the underlying skill (reverse recall, hidden filters, selective attention, etc.). Daily challenges are always Easy. Weekly tournaments are always Hard.

What are the 20 game modes?

Corflex includes: Sequence (ordered recall), Grid (spatial memory), Rhythm (beat timing), Transform (rule prediction), Oddity (visual search), Mirror (symmetry), Flash (rapid counting), Track (object tracking), Shift (change detection), Glyph (symbol decoding), Chroma (color reproduction), Harmony (pitch matching), Index (working memory), Maze (path recall), Melody (pentatonic recall), Reflex (reaction time), Interval (time estimation), Cascade (spatial drop memory), Scan (verbal recognition memory), and Bond (color mixing). Visit the Games page for detailed descriptions of each.

Brain Score

What is Brain Score?

Brain Score is the raw sum of your best score on each of the 20 game modes, ranging from 0 to 1000. Each mode caps at 50 points, so 20 × 50 = 1000 is the maximum. Corflex tracks two independent scores — an Easy Brain Score and a Hard Brain Score — so casual play and competitive play stay on separate footing. A score of 800+ puts you among the top performers. Read the full breakdown.

How do I unlock my Brain Score?

Play all 20 modes at the corresponding difficulty. Daily challenges count toward your Easy score (dailies are always Easy by design). Solo plays count toward whichever difficulty you chose. Easy and Hard unlock independently — you can have one unlocked without the other. Once unlocked, your Brain Score appears on your profile, the home screen, and the global Brain Score leaderboard.

How do I improve my Brain Score?

Improve your personal best in any mode at the relevant difficulty. Brain Score is calculated from your all-time best scores per difficulty, so a new personal best in even one mode will raise your overall rating. Focus on your weakest modes for the biggest gains.

Competition

How do daily challenges work?

Every day at midnight UTC, each of the 20 modes gets a fresh challenge. All players receive the same puzzle seed, ensuring a fair comparison. You get one attempt per mode per day. Your scores appear on the daily leaderboard, which resets every 24 hours.

How does the weekly tournament work?

Each week (resetting Monday at midnight UTC), one mode is selected on Hard difficulty. Every player gets the same puzzle seed and one attempt. The top 10 finishers earn a permanent trophy badge displayed on their profile and across all leaderboards. The mode rotates through all 20 games on a 20-week cycle.

What are Party Rooms?

Party Rooms let you compete with friends on the same puzzles. Create a room, pick one or more modes, choose a difficulty, and share the link. Everyone who joins plays the same randomly-generated puzzles. A shared leaderboard shows scores per mode and overall totals. No account required — just share the link.

How do leaderboards work?

Corflex has three types of leaderboards: Daily (today's challenge scores, resets at midnight UTC), Weekly (best solo scores from the past 7 days), and All-Time (personal bests, deduplicated so each player appears once). You can filter by mode or view all modes. Players with identical scores are ranked by submission time — earlier submissions rank higher.

Technical

What data does Corflex store?

Corflex stores your anonymous player ID, game scores, and chosen initials or display name. If you sign in with Google or Discord, your OAuth profile information is used to link your account across devices. Local storage holds your settings, streak data, and daily challenge state. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What browsers are supported?

Corflex works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, use the latest version of your browser. JavaScript must be enabled. Some audio features may require user interaction to initialize on mobile devices.

Why can't I hear any sound?

Corflex uses the Web Audio API for all sound. On mobile devices, browsers require a user gesture (tap) before audio can play. Tap any button on the page to unlock audio. You can also adjust volume or change sound profiles using the controls in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
